Hi fellow classmates, this is the first time im posting here!
Now we all know that our GP teacher has just finished his countless(i think two only) debates about art and how useful it is. I am glad that i have found the answer. The following will also hopefully make you more confused about art.
And if you are wondering if the souce is credible, see the author. Its one of his Favorite guy.
*Ahem*
(if you are in a hurry just read the red parts)
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Oscar Wilde
The preface:
The artist is the creator of beautiful things.
To reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim.
The critic is he who can translate into another manner or a new material his impressions of beautiful things.
...(im getting irritated of typing already. "..."=redundant parts that im too lazy to type)
Those who find ugly meanings in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming. This is a fault.
Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope.
There are the elect to whom beautiful things mean only beauty.
there is no such thing as a moral or immoral book. Books are will written, or badly written. That is all.
....
No artist has ethical sympathies. An ethical sympathy in an artist is an unpardonable mannerism of style.
No artist is ever morbid. The artist can express everything.
...
All art is at once surface and symbol.
Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril.
Diversity of opinion about a work of art shows that the work is new, complex, and vital. ...
All art is quite useless.
Thats all folks. See, the answer was just in one of our GP teacher's favourite(assumed) writer's books along_(insert Puncuation/s)
A&E:Diversity of opinion about a work of art shows that the work is new, complex, and vital.
All the more why we should continue to allow *ahem* healthy debate in class, mostly about our answers like how good they are and stuff
A&E:there is no such thing as a moral or immoral book
Last time they only had books. I think the rest is self explanatory.
Good luck for Maths test!
CLL rep (thanks whoever posted "kiss goodbye" on classblog)
extra frm pg 45:"And Beauty is a form of genius- is higher, indeed, than Genius, as it needs no explanation."
Explains Y some people in class who (think they) look very good are scoring in tests.
Hoo Hum~
